The Dreadnought model (D) is patterned after the vintage Martin Dreadnought guitars. The large soundboard and deep body combine to provide a rich powerful bass with plenty of volume and punch. Using a relatively stiffer top combined with lighter, deeply scalloped bracing, the D Model provides a greater dynamic range and balance with crisp trebles and an open mid-range.
Set up with medium tension strings, the Dreadnoughts are ideal for flat picking. It provides the deep, expansive tone with plenty of tonal complexity. It can also function nicely as a finger picking guitar by using light gauge strings.
