Their are many brands of tuners on the market today. Below are a subset of some of the better tuners on the market in my opinion. Other tuner options are available as well for a custom guitar.
In my opinion, Gotoh tuners are the best value for enclosed/sealed tuners available today. Therefore, they are the standard tuner I use on my custom guitars. They provide the same smooth, non-slip operation, durability, and beauty of the more expensive tuners on the market. Gear Ratios: 14:1 (Full Size), 18:1 (Mini).
Schaller was one of the first manufacturers to use a cast, sealed, and lubricated gear housing. This proven design has been copied by many. While a bit more expensive than other enclosed tuners, Schaller sets the standard to which others strive. Gear Ratios: 12:1 (M-6), 14:1 (Mini).
Hand-made in Bozeman, Montana since 1918, Waverly tuners are the finest open-gear, vintage style tuners on the market. Although expensive, Waverly tuners provide extremely smooth, non-slip tuning. Gear Ratio: 16:1.
