The tie block on classical guitar bridges is another area in which embellishments are common. The tie block needs to be surrounded by a strong material to handle the wear of the strings. Within the tie block, wooden and shell inlays are common.

My standard tie blocks use are wrapped in bone with an exotic wood inlay. Pearl, Abalone and other inlays are available as well on custom guitars.
